A Poulsbo woman died Feb. 4 in a single-vehicle collision on Gunderson Road after suffering a medical emergency.

The woman, who was in her 70s, was traveling east on Gunderson, and the vehicle crossed the center line and struck an embankment, Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Kevin McCarty said. She was the only occupant.

People extracted the driver from the vehicle and performed CPR for about five minutes until deputies and aid crews from North Kitsap Fire & Rescue arrived and continued life-saving measures.

Gunderson Road near the intersection of Miller Bay Road was closed for about 90 minutes.
