Puget Sound Energy confirmed at 2:30 p.m. Friday that there were about 1,500 customers without electricity in the Rocky Point area of Bremerton. The area is northwest of downtown and mainly residential.
PSE spokesman Ray Lane said up to 1,500 customers have had power go out due to two electrical poles that were down and brought down lines when they fell.
He was not certain what caused the poles to go down. However city of Bremerton public works officials said at least one pole was hit by a car causing the other pole to fall.
Lane said that PSE was hoping to bring from 500 to 800 customer back online by 3 p.m. He was not sure when the remaining customers without electricity would be back online.
A spokeswoman in the mayor’s office said the main portion of downtown, including the Norm Dicks Building where the mayor’s office is, never lost power.
