Pockets of Kingston, Port Gamble and Poulsbo lost electricity Monday night as a windstorm swept through Kitsap County.

Strong wind gusts hit Kitsap beginning at about 5:30 p.m., Puget Sound Energy spokeswoman Allison Stanford said. Falling trees and branches knocked out power to about 40,000 customers in the Puget Sound area. Numbers for Kitsap were not available, Stanford said. South Kitsap was hardest hit.

Thirty two customers were still without electricity Tuesday morning. Stanford said Puget Sound Energy expected to have its system fully restored by 11 a.m.

Fallen trees blocked several roadways as well Monday evening. Northbound State Route 3 was blocked in two places in Bremerton.

Showers and mild wind are expected for the remainder of the week with a chance of snow Thursday and Friday.
