The Health District is advising participants to prepare in advance for
Tomorrow’s H1N1 flu mass-vaccination clinic from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Silverdale United Methodist Church, 9982 Silverdale Way. The District will have enough vaccine on hand to immunize 5,000 people in specific priority groups. To help move people in and out of the clinic as quickly as possible, the Health District recommends participants take the following steps in advance:
• Review the following list of priority group members to be sure that you and your family members qualify for this clinic:
Any caregiver of infants under 6 months old
Pregnant women
Anyone 6 months through 24 years old
People 25 to 64 years old with chronic medical conditions
Healthcare and emergency medical workers
• Go online at www.kitsapcountyhealth.com to print a vaccination screening and consent form for each person who is getting a vaccination. Complete and sign the form before you arrive at the clinic.
Because of the high number of participants expected, the Health District provides the following traffic information:
• Limited parking is available on the church property. The District recommends carpooling or parking off site and walking to the clinic.
• A free Kitsap Transit shuttle service by will run continuously during the event from the AMC Kitsap 8 Theater parking area closest to Randall Way.
• Vehicle access will limited to a right turn onto church property from Silverdale Way, heading north. There will be no vehicle access from Ridgetop Boulevard.
• Disabled persons with a valid vehicle sign will have priority parking.
• All vehicles will be required to leave the church property by a right turn only onto Ridgetop Boulevard, heading east.
More than 40 volunteers from the Health District and the Kitsap Medical Reserve Corps will support the clinic. The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office will help direct traffic and provide security.
In the coming weeks, the Health District hopes to open up H1N1 vaccinations to everyone in the general public. The Health District will provide information about any changes in vaccination recommendations as soon as that information becomes available.
