Rep. Larry Seaquist profile

State Representative Position 2 Legislative District 26

Incumbent Larry Seaquist, Gig Harbor (Prefers Democratic Party)

Q: What background and experience do you bring to this office?

A: Called Mr. Accountability, Seaquist is a budget-cutting fiscal hawk. A 32-year Navy veteran who commanded four warships including Battleship IOWA, he always ran his high-performing

ships to cut costs to the taxpayer. He refused reimbursement during the Legislature’s special session because legislators shouldn’t be rewarded if they can’t get their work done on time. He voted against tax increases and overturning I-960; opposes a state income tax and stood up to the governor’s budget.

Larry stopped payment of bonuses to state executives, cut extra staff from the ferry system and helped prevent higher bridge tolls.

Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities, and how will you

accomplish them?

A: My main priority is helping our state’s businesses and working families dig their way out of this severe recession.

Critical is helping our small businesses and boosting our K-12, higher education and worker retraining programs so that our children and unemployed citizens have the skills for meaningful work in our 21st Century economy.

I will continue to be our veteran’s most effective advocate and will fight to suspend property taxes for overseas soldiers, assisted homeless veterans, and help veterans and families obtain services and protected overseas soldiers’ jobs.
