A call reporting a suicide attempt resulted in the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office submitting a report with prosecutors on whether to file hit-and-run charges against a Port Orchard man.
Deputies were called to the 6700 block of Regency Drive SE in Port Orchard on April 6, a man reported he receive a call from his step-son’s friend that his step-son had cut his throat.
According to a report, after deputies arrived at the residence the friend said he and three friends were involved in a collision on Phillips Road. Deputies found a 20-year-old man with a laceration on his neck and highly intoxicated.
The report stated the 19-year-old driver stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Bielmeir and Phillips Road. After stopping at the intersection, the driver hit the gas and the vehicle lost traction, swung sideways and hit an dirt embankment twice on Phillips.
After the wreck, the driver drove the vehicle to the home on Regency Drive SE and parked the car. One of the friends reported they didn’t call 911 because they didn’t think the cut was serious.
After the man complained about his cut, his friend called the parents. The injured man was transported to a hospital and needed stitches for his cut.
Deputies tried to contact the drive but were unsuccessful. The driver call two days later and gave his account of the incident. The drive said he had to drive the vehicle because his friends were intoxicated. He said once he parked the car, he went to a friend’s home, stated the report.
