Richard K. McKibben of Kingston died peacefully on July 28.
Survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia; son, Richard; daughter, Dea; son-in-law, Peter; sister, Elizabeth; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Born in London, Ontario, Canada in 1921. Grew up in Los Angeles, Calif. drawn to the Pacific North-west during flight training.
Grad-uated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1944. Stationed aboard the USS Princeton, assistant navigator on the USS Indianapolis, flew Corsairs during WWII. Became an inventor, designer and engineer holding 19 patents.
An avid athlete whose passions included rowing, sailing and flying. An optimist, scholar and storyteller who cherished the company of family and friends.
A private celebration of his life will be held. Donations preferred to Hospice of Kitsap County.
