The Netflix show “Money Heist” likely inspired two local robbers to wear Salvador Dali masks with his unique upturned black mustache.
Bail was set at $1 million for a 33-year-old Port Orchard man charged with first-degree robbery with a deadly weapon in Kitsap County Superior Court Nov. 19. He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Court papers say Kitsap deputies responded Aug. 21 at 8:34 p.m. to the 15000 block of Cedar Park Road SE in Olalla. A man admitted to driving there with another from Burien to deliver 1,000 fentanyl pills and several ounces of fentanyl powder. When they left the home, a man and woman wearing masks and armed with a gun confronted them.
One man fled on foot with the money, but the other was held at gunpoint in the vehicle. The male robber drove the car while the woman held a gun to the victim’s head. When the gun was moved away he jumped from the vehicle while it was in motion.
The suspect vehicle was stopped at a gas station in Gig Harbor. One man was arrested with $3,626.
A vehicle was found abandoned in a Purdy Park and Ride lot. There were two small zip-top bags in the open glovebox, which contained suspected narcotics. A costume mask was on the floor. The stolen vehicle was impounded. Several pills of suspected narcotics were later found in the car.
Video at the lot shows the occupants left in a truck that was later found in Bremerton. The license was different but a woman there said the plates had been stolen. One woman said of the suspect he “wants to rob people and do crack all day long.” The woman said the suspect was violent and crazy. They said the suspect was involved in similar robberies. DNA later was connected to this suspect.
