Rather than a silver bullet, a 24-year-old Bremerton woman used a silver baseball bat to commit a crime.
The woman was in Kitsap County Superior Court May 29 charged with second-degree robbery.
Bail was set at $250,000. She faces 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.
Court papers say Bremerton police responded May 30 to the Speed Way Gas/Mart on Wheaton Way in Bremerton at 5:36 p.m.
A woman with a silver baseball bat smashed a few windows then slammed the bat on the counter and demanded money. The woman then ran into an open field and started peeling off layered clothing while she was running. She had a black top on underneath her discarded sweatshirt.
An officer, who recognized the suspect as a transient criminal, tried to talk to her but she ran off. He was able to catch her and take her to the ground using a bear hug. A K-9 was used to find her discarded clothing and the bat, along with the stolen money, which was recovered from a nearby dumpster.
$29K in cash
Bail was set at $150,000 for a 45-year-old Kent man charged in Superior Court May 30 with possession with intent to deliver.
He faces 10 years in prison and at least a $$1,000 fine.
Court records say Bremerton police went to the 4900 block of AutoCenter Way at 1:30 p.m. May 25, where they have made numerous narcotics arrests in the past. A corporal could see drug paraphernalia inside a vehicle.
A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, which was towed. Over $29,000 in cash was found inside, along with drug scales, narcotics packaging and 9.15 ounces of black-tar heroin. The block of about 2,500 doses had a street value of $9,000. A drone and two-way CB radios also were inside. There was also a $1,200 monocular used as surveillance equipment.
There were also two postcards from King County courts to the suspect—one with a balance of over $139,000. There was also a license plate flipper controller.
Gun to head
A 26-year-old Bremerton man who held a gun to the heads of a woman and her son was in Superior Court May 30 arrested on a warrant from Nov. 7, 2023.
He was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault. Bail was $75,000. He faces life plus 10 years in prison and $70,000 in fines.
Court papers say Kitsap officers May 23 of last year were dispatched to an assault with a firearm in the 3900 block of Fairway Lane NW in Bremerton at 4:30 p.m. The victim said a man held a gun to both her and her 1-year-old child’s head, and took her cell phone and wallet. The suspect was a friend of her boyfriend’s.
The man was looking for her boyfriend and when told he wasn’t there he searched the house. He destroyed her $600 TV and $600 cellphone. When he left, she followed him to the 19th Hole Bar and Grill. He jumped into a car, and she obtained the license plate.
