OLYMPIA — Sen. Christine Rolfes, D-Bainbridge Island, will serve as vice-chairwoman of the state Senate Early Learning & K-12 Education and Environment, Water & Energy committees, as well as represent the 23rd District on the important Transportation Committee.
“I’ve got two daughters in middle school right now, and I know how important providing a good education is to parents, our local communities, and our entire state,” Rolfes said in a press release. “It’s an honor to help lead the committee that will take on the issues facing our education system.
“We all want clean skies, clean waters and well-managed natural resources. In Kitsap County, we know that a strong transportation system is the bedrock of our economy. I look forward to representing the people of the 23rdDistrict on the committees that will address the challenges ahead in these critical areas.”
Rolfes was appointed to her Senate seat July 20. Prior to her appointment, she represented the 23rd District in the House of Representatives since 2007. Her key issues have included ferry reform, military family issues, public education, and protecting Puget Sound.
