Bilingual
kindergarten comes to Martha & Mary
Martha & Mary Children’s Services is adding bilingual Spanish kindergarten to its Poulsbo Learning Center. With two certified teachers, Meagan White (kindergarten teacher beginning her fourth year with M&M) and Jennifer Pisoni (Spanish teacher with a bachelor’s in Spanish language and culture-certified teacher beginning her second year with M&M) the program will add a new facet to the private kindergarten offerings. Spanish will be taught and integrated throughout the day for a true bilingual experience. Class time will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and will follow the NKSD calendar for the year. Enrollment is limited to 20 and only a few spaces are left. Martha & Mary extends an invitation to come by and visit with a teacher, see the classroom and learn more about the program. The Children’s Learning Center is located on Front Street in downtown Poulsbo. To learn more, contact Jen Pisoni at (360) 394-4085.

Online education through online talent contest
To demonstrate the freedom and flexibility of the online school program, iQ Academy has launched an online talent contest called “30 Seconds of Fame with iQ Academy.” Much like the iQ Academy Washington program itself, the contest is being conducted online. Students are asked to submit a three-minute YouTube video illustrating their talent or “claim to fame.” Video submissions to date include students playing the guitar, dancing, drawing and riding a unicycle, among others. The contest is open to any student in grades six through 12, whether enrolled in an online school, brick-and-mortar school or homeschool program. Prizes include savings bonds, cash, HDTVs, Nintendo Wii and more, with iTunes downloads for all who enter. Contest deadline is Aug. 31. For more information or to enter online, visit www.YouTube.com/group/iQAcademy. To complete the contest submission process, students and a parent/guardian must submit a registration form available at www.iqacademy.com/waiver/.
