Concert honors local heroes

The North Kitsap High jazz band is the featured entertainment at a special appreciation reception for all Kitsap’s local heroes, today from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Costco in Silverdale. All active and retired employees of the school system, medical system, government, and military are invited to attend this free family event.

Vinland kicks off toy drive

In the hope of spreading holiday spirit, Vinland’s kicking off a food/toy drive to benefit Fishline. The toys need to be delivered to Vinland by noon Dec. 8. The gifts should be age appropriate items from infant through the teen years. Gift cards are also appreciated. Please do not wrap the gifts.

Food items need to be delivered to Vinland by Dec. 17.

Parks sponsors Elf Escape

For parents who’d like four free hours to get some holiday shopping done, the presents wrapped or a nice, quiet dinner together, then bring the little ones to Poulsbo Parks and Recreation’s Elf Escape. Drop off kids for cookies, crafts, games and pizza. Space is limited so please don’t wait to register.

Elf Escape is offered twice in December, Saturday Dec. 6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday Dec. 13, 4-8 p.m. Cost is $25 and $18 for additional siblings. Register at the Recreation Center, 19540 Front St, Poulsbo, or call (360) 779-9898 for more information.

Gift and craft sale set

On Dec. 6 and 7 the Voyager Montessori Elementary School is hosting a gift and craft sale. Quality handmade and environmentally friendly crafts available from local artists and the Voyager community will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 6 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 7 at 8225 High School Road, Bainbridge Island.
