Highlighters take second place at jazz

Highlighters take second place at jazz

festival in California

The South Kitsap High School Highlighters traveled to southern California during spring break to participate in the Disney Magic Music Days at Disneyland and to compete in the Fullerton Jazz Festival.

The festival attracts schools from all over the western United States competing in three divisions (novice, intermediate and advanced).

The Highlighters placed second in the advanced division which included Arts Magnet Schools and private institutions.

The Highlighters performed on April 17 at South Kitsap High School. Featured performances at this event included the Pierce College vocal jazz ensemble and Far West Jazz – included six SK graduates.

There is no admission charge.

Boys and Girls Club camp looking

for counselors

Students entering grades nine through 12 next year are eligible to be a Boys and Girls Club Summer Camp Counselor In Training (CIT).

Teens will learn valuable job skills and work in a fun, professional environment while earning community service hours.

CIT’s will also be rewarded with a special end-of-camp field trip to Wild Waves.

Staff shirt and training will be provided and each CIT will receive weekly feedback.

The Boys and Girls Club Summer Camp runs June 23 through Aug. 22 from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
