Lis named principal of Rainier High, Robbins takes interim post at Poulsbo Elementary
Wally Lis, former director of curriculum and assessment for the North Kitsap School District, has been named principal of Rainier High School in Rainier. Lis had been the interim principal of Poulsbo Elementary School after his former position was eliminated during a restructuring of district administrative positions last spring.
Glen Robbins, a 30 year veteran of school leadership and classroom teaching, most recently the instructional coach for NKSD’s Highly Capable program, has been selected to replace Lis as the interim principal at Poulsbo Elementary School for the 2009-10 school year.
The district said it will select a new long-term principal for Poulsbo Elementary through a full process of staff, parent and community involvement, and hopes to fill that position by February.

Children’s Garden hosts open house

Orientations for Spectrum Community School day students will be from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 1 and 1-3 p.m. Sept. 8 at the school, located at 25800 Siyaya Ave. NE in Kingston. Volunteer at PMS
Poulsbo Middle School is looking for 15 adults to help with sixth-grade team building exercises on Sept. 9 from 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. and two adults to help from 7:45-11 a.m. at the school. Interested volunteers should email Jennifer Crumbliss at jennifer.crumbliss@gmail.com.
Boys and Girls Club meets at KMS
The Kingston Boys and Girls Club is accepting applications for its after-school program for middle school-aged students. All students are welcome to enroll. For an annual fee of $20, students have their choice of activities ranging from pool, ping-pong, foosball, video games, karaoke, arts and crafts, field trips, homework help, cooking and more. Members of the club also have a say in choosing new activities. The program runs during the school year, Monday through Thursday, 2:40 to 6 p.m. During the Kingston Middle School Cavalier Information Day Sept. 8, the Boys & Girls Club Lounge will be open so parents and students can meet the program director and learn about the activities. The information day runs from 1-4 p.m. Registration forms will also be available. The Kingston Boys and Girls Club is a branch of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Snohomish County and paid for through local support. The Kingston Club kicked off a fund drive in August to raise $15,000 to cover costs for this school year’s program.
