Class of ’99 reunion planned

The North Kitsap High School class of 1999 reunion will take place at 11 a.m. Aug. 29 at Kitsap Memorial State Park. It is a potluck-style barbecue. Families are welcome. At 6 p.m. the same day, there will be an adults-only gathering at Bay Bowl in Bremerton, with $20 tickets sold at the door. Info: email nkreunion99@gmail.com.

Quitslund named to EOU dean’s list

Eric Quitslund of Poulsbo was named to the Eastern Oregon University dean’s list for spring quarter 2009. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while completing at least 12 hours of graded coursework.

Byers receives scholarship

Joshua Byers of Kingston received a $1,500 college scholarship from the Scholarships for Military Children program. Byers is the son of Mindy and Stephen Byers, and plans to attend Central Washington University in Ellensburg. The scholarship program is open to qualified children of members of the United States military. Applicants for the 2009 program were required to maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0, participate in volunteer activities, demonstrate leadership qualities and write an essay.

Leap on over to the Croak-In

The Silverwood School in Poulsbo will host a community “Croak-In” and marshmallow roast from 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 14 at the frog-filled pond on the school’s Central Valley Road campus.
