POULSBO — The North Kitsap School District board of directors Thursday approved a bid from Vancouver-based Zink Commercial to install lights at the Kingston High School turf field. The base bid from Zink was $228,935. District officials estimated the lights project would cost between $225,000 and $250,000. Competing bids ranged up to $269,000. Funding for the installation of the lights was augmented by a $47,000 contribution from the Kingston-North Kitsap Rotary as well as additional monies from local fundraisers. In April, the school board allocated $140,000 of previously uncommitted KHS funds to go toward the lighting project. The state will also pitch in $40,000. According to a press release from NKSD communications and community relations director Chris Case, “substantial completion of the lighting is expected by Sept. 10.”
