A CELEBRATION OF ART

A dedication of Frank Samuelson’s new public art piece, Three Story Building was held at Kingston High School on Feb. 21 followed by a reception at the Kingston Art Gallery at Cleo’s Landing to raise funds for the Fine Arts program at KHS.

SPRING SPORTS TRYOUTS

With winter season coming to an end, KHS offers seven different sports during the spring season: baseball, fast pitch, golf, boys’ soccer, girls’ tennis and track. Spring sport tryouts start on Monday, March 2. Running Start students are eligible. For more details, call the Athletics Office at (360) 394-1207.

WINTER SPORTS AWARDS CEREMONY

KHS will celebrate the successes of its winter sports teams with their annual Winter Sports Awards Ceremony in the KHS commons on Thursday, March 5, at 7 p.m. The event is free of charge to the public. KHS Athletic Boosters will provide dessert and refreshments before and after the ceremony.

GEOGRAPHY BEE

Seventh grader Quentin Tangen won the Kingston Middle School Geography Bee and Tyler Shuey came in second. The Geography Bee is sponsored by the National Geographic Society. To move on to higher competitions, school winners must take a written qualifying test that is reviewed at National Geographic headquarters in Washington, DC. Qualifiers for the state competition were not available at press time.
