Ten South Kitsap High School students have been selected to participate in the prestigious Washington All-State High School Marching Band.
The All-State Marching Band will march together at various events June 29 to July 5, in Washington D.C. and Philadelphia.
They will perform in the 2013 Philadelphia Independence Day Parade on July 4 and at George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate in Virginia.
The following students select were Cece Boyd, Hunter Campbell, Chyanna Edwards, Karl Estes, Conner Fugier, Chloe Meyers, Jonathan Niemi, Erin Niles, Charlotte Whitten, and Kevin Morrison.
South Kitsap HS senior CeCe Boyd was selected as one of three drum majors for the band and Music Director Gary Grams will be an assistant band director for the group.
Music has given these students opportunity, ambition, and the ability to work with others.
“I’m looking forward to the chance to show my band director and the nation what I can do and to experience history in such a personal way,” said Chloe Meyers. “Band has driven me to strive for better things. I’ve gotten more involved at school and tried new things because of the confidence I’ve gained.”
