Payton Frandsen helps load wood to be cut Saturday in the backyard of his Seabeck house. The Make-a-Wish Foundation and workers from Kingston Lumber and Sentinel Construction helped build a wooden boat playhouse for Payton which includes an electrical outlet, captain’s quarters and a slide. The 7-year-old is living with congenital heart disease and his grandfather, Brad Frandsen, calls him a “miracle baby.” Payton has had three open-heart surgeries and spent at least a full year of his life in the hospital, Frandsen said.
“He wasn’t supposed to survive,” he said.
Payton, who said his favorite pirate is Jack Sparrow from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” said he is excited to show off the boat to his friends at his birthday party next week.
