A second Boundary Review Board public meeting on Silverdale incorporation is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at the Silverdale Beach Hotel, 3073 NW Bucklin Hill Road. With the removal of the Chico neighborhood from proposed incorporation boundaries after Chico residents opposed being part of a city at the first Board meeting last month, proponents resubmitted their intent to incorporate with updated boundaries. This has essentially started the process over with another Board public meeting.
“Because they changed the boundary, they basically had to start over,” said Carolyn Gourley, clerk of the Board.
Thursday’s meeting will allow residents to give their input on Silverdale incorporation and the proposed boundaries. The updated boundary is just south of Newberry Hill Road, drawing a horizontal line from Dyes Inlet west to Roundup Lane. The new southwest boundary of the proposal is at the south border of Emery Ridge, still including that neighborhood in the proposed city.
Even with the setback, Citizens United for Silverdale, the committee pushing for incorporation, still plans to get the measure to voters in spring 2012.
“We’re just going to have to be a little more organized to get all our signatures,” said Marcus Hoffman, committee spokesman.
