The sentencing of former Port Orchard City Councilman Tye Moore for child molestation, originally scheduled for Monday morning, was delayed when defense attorney Tom Weaver requested another judge.

Judge Craddock Verser, visiting from Jefferson County, was scheduled to hear the sentencing at 9 a.m., though Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Ted Spearman presided over the case previously.

Weaver filed a motion requesting Spearman hear the sentencing, and Verser approved the request. Moore’s sentencing is now scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

Moore, 39, faces another 31-41 months in prison on the second-degree molestation charge, which he was first charged with two years ago shortly after he was released from prison on fraud charges.

Moore was elected to the City Council in November of 2005, then six months later was accused of forging checks from a home construction business to pay for personal expenses and his political campaign.

He was convicted in October of 2006 of several counts of forgery and theft and sentenced to 25 months in prison.

Just weeks after being released from prison in February of 2008, Moore was arrested for molestation.

In the two years since, the charge has been dropped, re-filed, and Moore fled to Alabama. After being extradited from Alabama in December, Moore is currently in Kitsap County Jail custody under a no-bail hold.
