South Kitsap residents are invited to a free workshop to learn how to keep their septic systems working well and lasting longer.
The workshops is scheduled Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Long Lake Bob Oke Community Room, 5100 Long Lake Road SE, Port Orchard.
The free event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. aThe workshops include information about:
• How septic systems work
• Best ways to care for them
• How to detect if a system is failing and what to do next
• Low interest loan programs for septic repairs
• Attendees will also receive free “green” cleaning products
• Refreshments provided
“Just as you would maintain your car so it runs well and lasts longer, you need to maintain your septic system,” says Kerrie Crawford, Kitsap Public Health District (KPHD). “A failing septic system can cost thousands of dollars to repair and can be a serious health risk to your family and the environment.”
