Shelter open Thursday night for people without refuge

Due to below freezing weather conditions, Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management has activated the county’s Severe Weather Shelter Plan tonight.

Due to below freezing weather conditions, Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management has activated the county’s Severe Weather Shelter Plan tonight.

The shelter, located at the Bremerton Food Line in the 1600 block of 12th Street, will open at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21.  Hours of operation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.  Guests will not be able to check into the shelter after 10 p.m.

The shelter will serve all citizens in our area who require safe overnight refuge where none is available. Further activations will be weather dependent. Stay tuned.
