PORT ORCHARD — Seagull callers from across the region gave it their all Saturday, May 27 on the Port Orchard waterfront as they shrieked to entice area seagulls (and the judges on hand) to the shore with taste treats.
The 29th annual Seagull Calling Festival, sponsored by the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce, was brightened by sunny weather and toasty temperatures, not to mention tables ladened with barbecued wings for the tasting at $1 a piece.
Longtime emcee Bryan Petro handled the contestant introductions as they stepped individually onto the beach that had been left bare in bright green with an extremely low tide, which kept a squadron of seagulls busy chomping on sea-bottom delicacies hundreds of yards in the distance.
