Last week the Sheriff Department responded the 31st instance of theft of support signs for Port of Manchester Prop No. 1. The Officer responding suggested we install “Game Cams” to the stop this sign destruction. We have.
The press recently asked if we thought Port of Manchester was involved in the theft of signs supporting Port Term Reductions for Commissioners. We think it is no coincidence that 22 signs disappeared the same time the Port posted unlawful anti-ballot measure language on their website. The Public Commission cited the Port of Manchester for this unlawful use of its website. But this isn’t about just a few people feeling discriminated against, it is about anyone who supports free speech. It is also a slap in the face to 341 Manchester voters to who signed the petition to bring this question to a vote. Support signs will be posted again. Hopefully this thrill theft activity is over. Hopefully our game cameras will capture future destructive activities. Please don’t let this disrespectful and illegal behavior of a few discourage your participation in this decision. Remember, the days of thugs hanging out at polling places to intimidate voters doesn’t occur in Kitsap County anymore.
Please mark your ballot with a “yes” for Port of Manchester Proposition No. 1 April 17th.
