Burglars used a sledge hammer to break though a wall and steal money and remote control toys from Hobby Town USA in Silverdale March 6.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the hobby store on Myhre Place Northwest at 7:28 a.m. in response to an alarm, according to reports from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office. The front glass door to the neighboring vacant unit was shattered and deputies found broken sheetrock and insulation on the floor. A hole in the wall allowed access into Hobby Town USA. Several remote controls were laying on the ground in the vacant business, as well as a sledge hammer fashioned out of a piece of pipe and a sledge head. Deputies also found white dusty shoe prints leading out of the vacant unit and into the parking lot.

The manager of the hobby store told deputies that several remote control cars, helicopters and boats were missing, with an average value of $150 each. About $100 was also taken from a cash register.

Reports indicated a similar burglary happened at Chrisman Coins and Jewelry in December. Deputies found no suspect information.
