An early morning home invasion in the Ridgetop area of Silverdale May 16, in which the intruder startled a young child before fleeing, remains under investigation by the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

Patrol deputies responded to a 911 call of an unknown problem that occurred in the 1000 block of NW Seasons Lane, off of Ridgepoint Drive NW. The report was received and dispatched at 3:15 a.m.

Investigators indicate that the suspected intruder, believed to be a male, entered a residence through an unlocked window. Once inside the house, he walked upstairs and entered a bedroom where he crossed paths with the child.

Police say the suspect became startled and created a disturbance that woke the parents before fleeing their home through a door.

Scott Wilson, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said that a home invasion entails a suspect going “into a house knowing in all likelihood that it is going to be occupied — in this case that people are likely to be asleep inside or the home will occupied.”

Patrol deputies used a sheriff’s K-9 unit in an attempt to track the suspect but were unsuccessful. Autorities said there were indications that the suspect may have attempted entry at other residences in the general area.

Wilson said that he is not at liberty to provide any further update on the case because it could jeopardize the investigation.

No arrests have been made and no detailed description of the suspect is available.
