Zane R. Tempia, 18, of Silverdale, is charged in Kitsap County District Court with reckless driving.
On July 18, a caller reported a teal-colored vehicle was doing “donuts” and “slamming into a fence at North Kitsap Little League” fields.
As a sheriff deputy approached the fields on Viking Way, he passed teal-colored Ford Thunderbird followed by Poulsbo Police car with its lights activated.
The Thunderbird took the ramp for northbound Highway 3, and began passing cars illegally and accelerating. The driver pulled over just south of Equestrian Drive.
The driver was identified as Tempia, but did not have his driver’s license. The officers found Tempia’s license was suspended. Tempia allegedly told officers he was doing donuts and hit the fence at the ball fields.
When one of the officers asked why he didn’t pull over, and if it was to get away from the police, Tempia replied, “That might have been a factor in my decision making,” according to the report.
Tempia was booked into Kitsap County Jail on $5,000 bail.
