Silverdale residents, break out a cup and enjoy the best tap water in Washington, Idaho and Oregon.
Skip Beahm, operations manager for Silverdale Water District, said the honor came from the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and has earned them the opportunity to compete nationally in San Diego.
The Silverdale district’s water sample was awarded first place out of seven entries in the South sound sub-section of the contest and then defeated five water samples from the pacific northwest section in May, including last year’s northwest winner, Medford, Ore.
“This is the first time we entered this contest,” Beahm said. “We took first place twice before in the Washington Association of Sewer and Water District’s contest.”
Louisville Water Company in Kentucky was the national winner last year, but Beahm thinks Silverdale has a chance to win this year.
“Silverdale water is good,” he said. “We were pleasantly surprised about winning, especially when we are competing against bigger districts like Tacoma and Olympia.”
