Sixth Street Chevron’s liquor license suspended

The Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) issued an emergency liquor license suspension for up to 180 days to Newman’s Chevron, located at 2021 Sixth St. in Bremerton.

During the suspension, WSLCB will take action to permanently revoke the grocery/beer/wine license, according to a WSLCB news release.

The Newman’s Chevron licensee sold beer to an 18-year-old investigative aide Feb. 12, marking the sixth sale to a minor at the Chevron in two years.

The WSLCB is authorized by state law to issue an emergency suspension of up to 180 days of a liquor license when the “health, safety and welfare” of the public is in danger, according to WSLCB.

The WSLCB issued three emergency suspensions in 2006, three in 2007 and one in 2008.

The suspension is effective from Feb. 17 to Aug. 17.
