South Kitsap Helpline Food Bank is collecting fresh produce Friday and Saturday for the Christmas baskets it will be giving to families this year. It is requesting donations of fresh apples, carrots, celery, onions, oranges, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tangerines and yams.
The produce can be dropped off at 1351 Bay Street both days from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. for the baskets, and fresh produce is also accepted throughout the year.
SK Helpline Executive Director Jennifer Hardison said the agency is also collecting new, unwrapped toys for children.
