Taken from an incident reports by a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputies:

An 18-year-old pregnant woman was beaten and nearly suffocated by her 28-year-old fiance around 8:23 p.m. July 4, at the South Kitsap apartment where they lived together.

The woman had spent several hours visiting her parents, that day, and got back to the apartment around 5 p.m.

Her fiance was angry with her when she got home, saying that she told him she’d be back at 1 p.m. and accusing her of cheating on him.

He allegedly punched her multiple times with a closed fist and slapped her multiple times.

At one point, he allegedly pinned her to the couch and strangled her with both hands, so that she couldn’t breathe, and he tried to smother her with a pillow.

Eventually, he let her get up.

She allegedly ran into the bathroom, locking one of the doors, but not realizing that the bathroom had two doors.

The man allegedly entered the bathroom through the second, unlocked door, strangled her and slapped her head so hard that it hurt.

He then allegedly forced her to take a shower.

The woman allegedly told one of her friends about the incident, and they talked to another friend about it. They decided to call 911.

When Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, they saw the man on the second floor deck of the apartment complex, talking on his cell phone.

Shortly thereafter, he went into the apartment unit and locked the door.

One of the deputies tried to talk with the man through the apartment’s door, while the other got his dog.

Deputies told the man that the door to the apartment would be forced open, and a dog would be sent in, if he didn’t come outside.

Once the man saw the deputies’  dog, he came outside and let the deputies handcuff him, without incident.

One of the deputies said that they someone had called 9-1-1 to report a domestic violence assault with injuries, but the man allegedly said that he didn’t know what the deputy was talking about.

He said that he hadn’t been involved in an assault, and no one else had either.

The deputy then asked if he had an argument with his girlfriend.

He said, “no.” They were talking, he claimed, in normal tones.

He asked deputies to give his wallet and money to his girlfriend, saying that they weren’t his.

Deputies then asked him if he was also wearing pants that weren’t his.

They took out his Washington State ID card out of the wallet, and asked if it wasn’t his.

The man changed his story, then, saying that his bus pass and some business cards would help his girlfriend, and he wanted to leave them with her.

A deputy took the wallet to the aid unit and handed it to the victim.

She said that she was done with him, and didn’t want anything to do with his wallet.

Deputies noticed that the victim had several obvious injuries, including:

• “Left eye: black/blue/red in color and extremely swollen.
• Nose: red mark across the bridge of her upper nose.
• Right cheek: two large abrasios, red in color.
• Right ear: inner ear red with what appears to be a small abrasion. Ear lobe red in color.
• Neck: red marks on both the left and right side of the neck in the throat area.
• Left Triceps: redness with start of bruising.”

A Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue Medic unit cleared the woman, who refused to go to the hospital.

The man was booked into jail for domestic violence including second degree assault and unlawful imprisonment.
