POULSBO — A 14-year-old boy was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries after fell from his skateboard at 1 p.m. Tuesday on Pugh Road near Bond Road.

He was not wearing a helmet, according to Poulsbo Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Matson.

Poulsbo Fire went to the scene. Emergency personnel transported the boy to Raab Park where he was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center’s trauma unit.

This is the second serious injury within the past few weeks involving a child not wearing a helmet. Matson said parents should insist their children wear helmets. Poulsbo Fire and North Kitsap Fire & Rescue provide low-cost helmets for families.
