” KINGSTON – The plans for a skatepark should be rolling full speed ahead after the middle of next week, Kitsap County parks and recreation officials hope. The idea is to get a decision on where to put the park, said Joseph Coppo, open space coordinator for the county. The decision should come from the Kingston Citizens’ Advisory Committee during its regular meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kingston Community Center. The group is charged with making the final recommendation for the skatepark location to the Kitsap County Commissioners. Coppo will go over the four possible locations for the park comparing them to list of criteria. The four proposed locations are: * Kola Kole Park in the current location of the basketball court * The gravel pit at Norman Road * The water/sewage treatment plant site * Kola Kole Park, northwest corner at the ballfield backstop The criteria used to measure the sites include the proximity to surrounding businesses; availability of restrooms, lighting and other infrastructure and the safety of the location. The public is invited to attend and provide input on where the park should be located. Among those who plan to attend the meeting is Trina Gentry whose son is an avid skateboarder. Kola Kole Park, however they can get it to fit in there, Gentry said when asked where she would like to see the park go. The Kingston Junior High Skateboard Club has spent the past several months raising money for the project. They have raised nearly $5,000 for the park. The skatepark project got rolling this spring with $150,000 from the county. “
