SKSD to offer free lunches to kids this summer

SOUTH KITSAP — Children living within the South Kitsap School District boundaries will continue to have access to a free summer lunch.

Lunches this summer from June 25-Aug. 17 will be served free of charge to children at East Port Orchard Elementary. On July 3-4 only, lunches will not be available.

The lunches will be served at the school from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On each Wednesday, a sack lunch will also be provided to children at the downtown Port Orchard waterfront gazebo, adjacent to the Port Orchard Library. The lunches will be distributed from noon-12:15 p.m. on July 11-Aug. 15.

Free lunch is possible due to the district’s participation in the federally funded Summer Food Program that offers free lunches to children 18 years of age and younger.
