Poulsbo firefighters and paramedics were called to Poulsbo Elementary School Thursday afternoon to investigate a suspicious smell that made two students sick.
All students were immediately evacuated to the soccer fields adjoining the school, according to Chris Case, spokesperson for the North Kitsap School District.
Initially, the odor was reported as a possible fire, as one person thought the smell resembled hot wires.
Police and fire officials investigated and found no fire, Case said.
The smell was thought to result from exhaust from an air conditioning system being blown back into the building by the wind during repair work.
