BREMERTON — The candidate field for Bremerton School Board Director, Position 3 shrank from four to three today as Colleen Smidt withdrew her candidacy.
“One of my main goals from the very beginning was to do what I could to help ensure that qualified, involved candidates run for elected positions within our community,” Smidt said. “What is best for the district as a whole, is the first and foremost decision driving question to be answered.”
Smidt will instead endorse candidate Jonee Dubos.
“Jonee has been a long time participant and volunteer within the Bremerton School District,” Smidt said. “I have full confidence in her ability to do the job and she will shortly prove herself to be the obvious and qualified frontrunner.”
Although she’s no longer in contention, Smidt said she’ll continue volunteering with the district as she has for nearly a decade.
“I will continue to serve in the various capacities as I have already done since 2006 as well as embrace any new opportunities that come along,” Smidt said.
With Smidt out of the running, Dubos, Tony Stephens and Phil Sehorn remain vying for Position 3.
