POULSBO — Hey kids, what did you do during your snow day?
•••
Danny O’Hair, North Kitsap High School: My neighbor woke me up at 5:30. He started yelling for me to look outside. I put on my snow clothes and went outside, and we went sledding. Then we made a huge snowman. We kept rolling it and rolling it until we couldn’t roll it anymore; it was huge. The base had to be like 300 pounds. Then the power went out. So we went to Silverdale, where they had power.
We went to Circuit City and bought CDs. We blasted them all the way home.

Brandon Huggins, Fifth Grade, Poulsbo Elementary School: I got up at 5:30 and looked out the window and saw snow. The windows were bright, and usually that meant it was time to get up.
I got all my stuff on and went outside. I went out and started throwing snowballs.
We got all the kids in the neighborhood together and started sledding down my friend’s hill. We started doing crazy stuff like standing up on the sled or having three kids in a sled. There were eight kids.
I started making a big snowball. I asked my friend Max to help me help because I couldn’t roll it anymore. It was pretty big — it got up to my neck. We rolled it until we couldn’t anymore. But we made a big snowball and that was fun.

Melissa Allen, North Kitsap High School: I laid around and watched movies. One was “Simon Birch” — that was so good. I caught up on some laundry and cleaned my room; it’s stuff you have to do anyway.
I didn’t have any homework, so that was good.

Andrew Jennings, North Kitsap High School: I did homework. Lots and lots of homework. Math, biology, non-western civ. I couldn’t sleep in, because I had already woken up.
My brother wanted to play outside, so we played in the snow. We chased our dogs around through the snow.

Brandon Hanlin, Sixth Grade, Poulsbo Elementary: When I saw snow, I was like, “Yes!”
I just moved here so it was exciting. It was the first snow day I’ve had here. I said to myself, wow, this is the first snow day of the trimester.
I was really happy. I kept looking outside and looking outside. I stayed in bed for about 20 minutes. Then I went outside. I threw snowballs for my dog, Chloe. She likes to catch them. And I took snow off the trees so they wouldn’t die. It was fun. I shook it down.
I got my snow tube out and tried to use it. We have a big field. But it kept sinking into the grass.
Our power was out, so there wasn’t much I could do. I mostly read and played my Gameboy. It got pretty cold. I kept calling my mom at work because I was so bored.
We went out to eat because we didn’t have any power. We went to Azteca. I got really full. I had a whole macho burrito, and it’s this big (holds hands far apart).
At Azteca, they said on the news we might have another snow day. I was like, “Oh, yeah!”
