The 2016 Live Your Dream Award scholarships were given to Kelly McLeod and Michelle V. Miller by the Soroptimist International of Greater Bremerton at the awards dinner March 22. Soroptimist International of Greater Bremerton education grants assist women to achieve their dreams of a better life for themselves and their families. They are women who have had the courage and determination to turn their lives around.
Each year, Soroptimist clubs throughout the country award over $1.6 million in education grants to more than 1,200 women, many of whom have overcome enormous obstacles. Live Your Dream Award recipients often use the cash award to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain post-high school education. Both McLeod and Miller plan to continue their education at Olympic College using the Soroptimist scholarship.
Soroptimist means “best for women” and is a global organization whose members volunteer to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. To learn more, visit www.bremertonsoroptimist.org.
