Soroptimists donates $1K to ‘Survive and Thrive’ program

Soroptimists International of Greater North Kitsap presented a donation of $1,000 to Peninsula Cancer Center for it “Survive and Thrive Program,” March 13.

POULSBO — Soroptimists International of Greater North Kitsap presented a donation of $1,000 to Peninsula Cancer Center for it “Survive and Thrive Program,” March 13.

“Survive and Thrive” is a health and fitness program for women with a history of cancer, with a goal of improved fitness and/or weight loss. The donation will be used to pay athletic trainers, nutritionist and Life Coach Support to support women during the healing process from cancer.

All told, Soroptimists has donated $2,000 to the program.

Since July 2012, Soroptimists has donated $18,850 to Central Kitsap Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, North Kitsap Fishline, YMCA Alive Shelter, Bainbridge Youth Services, ShareNet, Stand-Up for Kids, Peninsula Cancer Center, North Kitsap Boys and Girls Club, Harrison Medical Center, Hospice of Kitsap County, and West Sound Academy.

Funds are raised at the organization’s Bras for a Cause” auction (the next one is May 18 at Kiana Lodge) and “Baubles, Boots and Bags” in November.
