The South Colby Elementary building first opened its doors to families in the fall of 1956.
This year marks the school’s 60th anniversary of educating Port Orchard’s youth.
The anniversary will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 30 from 5:30-7 p.m. There will be games, music, cupcakes and punch.
School staff will also distribute 60th-anniversary magnets that complement the blue paw magnets displayed on many South Colby family vehicles.
The celebration is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to come by and enjoy the festivities.
