Two male burglary suspects are now in custody as a result of public assistance and information provided to 911 and the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office about the identity of one of the suspects.
The suspects, both age 20 and from South Kitsap, were booked into Kitsap County Jail on charges of residential burglary Wednesday morning, according to Deputy Scott Wilson, KCSO spokesman.
Wilson said KCSO distributed a news release Tuesday night, requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect whose image was caught on a residential security monitoring system. The burglary was reported Sept. 4 at a residence in the 1000 block of Retsil Road East.
He said shortly after information and photograph were posted on local print media web pages, and following late evening news broadcasts from Seattle television stations, Kitsap County Central Communications (911) began receiving tips about the suspect’s identity and possible location.
Wilson said reports stated the suspect allegedly was registered at a South Kitsap motel.
The depicted suspect was reported on foot in a group with other people in the vicinity of SE Abernathy Court and Harris Road SE in South Kitsap. Wilson said when law enforcement units arrived, the group split up and ran in various direction.
The suspects were taken into custody around 8:35 a.m. They were found hiding in a small, open shed structure hidden in the woods, about 100 feet off the roadway in the 2500 block of Carr Lane SE.
Port Orchard Police Department and Washington State Patrol assisted in the suspects’ apprehension.
