South Kitsap High School theater teacher Scott Yingling has publicly issued a video challenge Jim Fallon, host of NBC’s The Tonight Show.
The school’s Acting Ensemble’s challenge was posted Jan. 31 on YouTube.com.
In the video, Yingling — with his ensemble behind him — announced the challenge from inside the South Kitsap High School Theatre.
“Hey James, my name is Scott Yingling and I am a theater teacher at South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard,Washington,” Yingling remarks in the 67-second video clip. “And you host uh little show that’s quite popular and I host a show that is very popular. We have improv night here in South Kitsap and behind me is my crew.”
“And basically what we’re saying right now James, it that I’m challenging you, OK. Yeah, bring it! So I got my crew and you can get anybody you want and we challenge you to an improv off. You can come to my house or we’ll go to your house — either way you’re gonna lose. All right, so Jimmy Fallon, SK versus Fallon. Here we go!”
The camera then turns to Yingling with a crowd of screaming students in the background, then back to Yingling, who is laughing.
“We need everyone to contact him over social media to see if he will meet the challenge,” in a statement posted with the video by the SKHS video production crew. “Bring it James!”
The video has received more than 34,950 hits as of Feb. 5.
“We have not received anything from Jimmy yet, but I firmly believe it is only a matter of time,” wrote Yingling in an email Feb. 12.
Yingling said that he and the students started talking about how cool it would be to challenge Jimmy Fallon.
“I said well let’s do it at the next Improv Night — so we did,” Yingling said. ” It has been a blast for the kids and I am super proud of how mature they have been during the whole process.”
