A Port Orchard man wanted for assault in an high-speed chase with a Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputy has been charged with second-degree assault Oct. 13 in Kitsap County District Court.
According to a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office news release, Zenin Russell Gerhing, 22, was arrested Oct. 10 around 6:45 p.m. at a residence in the 7000 block of SE Promenade Lane in South Kitsap.
He was booked into the Kitsap County Jail on probable cause charges of first-degree assault (deadly weapon), attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle and third-degree malicious mischief.
He also was booked on two outstanding warrants of arrest for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and for third-degree theft out of Port Orchard Municipal Court. Total bail was set at $120,000.
Gerhing’s known location at the time of his arrest was based on criminal intelligence developed by KCSO deputies, according to the news release.
The suspect was the driver of a 1993 Honda Civic that was used to assault a Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies while on patrol on Oct. 6.
Also, a 21-year-old woman identified by deputies as a passenger in the Honda during the pursuit was found inside the residence together with Gerhing and was arrested.
She was booked into jail on two counts of violation of a no-contact order. Bail was set at $50,000.
