South Kitsap schools levy passing at 55% after latest count

The South Kitsap School District’s proposal to renew its educational programs and operations levy is currently passing after the latest round of votes were counted Feb. 13, with 55% (10,862) of voters in favor and 45% (8,948) voting against it.

The four-year levy, which requires 50% plus one vote for approval, is designed to collect up to $133 million over the next four years to fund services that support the district’s educational programs. These funds will cover areas including special education, athletics, arts, classroom support, security, transportation, food services, extracurricular activities, and staff support.

The levy would collect $30,990,823 in 2026, $32,313,252 in 2027, $33,950,830 in 2028, and $35,690,540 in 2029. The tax rate would be $1.94 per $1,000 of assessed property value each year.
