KINGSTON — Stillwaters is hosting a series of five classes that will cover a range of topics around creating, planning and writing a presentation at North Kitsap Fire & Rescue headquarters, 26642 Miller Bay Road NE.
Participants choose their own topic and will be actively involved in the class.
“Getting Started on Your Plan for Great Presentations, Tours and Programs” is the first class and is scheduled on Jan. 13. All classes will take place the second Tuesday of the month through May, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Each class is independent of the others and can be taken individually.
Other topics will include: “Telling Engaging Stories about Nature, People and Places,” “Connecting People to Nature, History and Special Places,” “Show Me How That Works: Techniques for Engaging People with Different Learning Styles,” and “Communicating Science to Regular People.”
The presenter is Monica Van der Vieren. She has provided presentations and workshops for Woodland Park Zoo, Snohomish Conservation District, Snohomish County Master Gardeners, and many community habitat programs. Van der Vieren is a certified interpretive guide, and is completing her certified interpretive trainer qualifications for the National Association of Interpretation.
Pre-registration is required, with a suggested donation of $10 to $20 to Stillwaters.
