Stillwaters will present two dam movies in one evening at the Firehouse Theatre in January.
Both critically-acclaimed films have received numerous awards. A discussion will be facilitated afterward.
To find out when the films will be shown, visit Stillwaters’ Facebook page.
The movies are “DamNation” and “Return of the River.”
Damnation’s majestic cinematography and unexpected discoveries move through rivers and landscapes altered by dams, but also through a metamorphosis in values, from conquest of the natural world to knowing humans as part of nature.
“Return of the River” follows a group of strong-minded committed people as they attempt the impossible: to change the public opinion of a town and eventually the nation to bring a dam down. The community comes to a consensus, setting the Elwha River free and showing the way to more sustainable future. Amid grim environmental news, “Return of the River” is a film infused with hope.
Suggested donation of $10 to Stillwaters.
