Stolen vehicle yields found missing person and meth

EAST BREMERTON – Kitsap County Sheriffs Deputies arrested two men in connection with a vehicle theft in East Bremerton.

EAST BREMERTON – Kitsap County Sheriffs Deputies arrested two men in connection with a vehicle theft in East Bremerton.

The vehicle owner said his 1999 Ford Ranger was stolen between Feb. 4-6.

About 45 minutes after speaking with the owner, deputies found the truck in a Burger King parking lot on Warren Avenue.

Deputies deployed a K-9 officer and then found two men walking northbound toward the Warren Avenue Bridge.

Douglas Lee Skeens, Jr., 24, admitted to driving the vehicle, according to police reports.

Police searched a backpack belonging to Skeens and found methamphetamine and several syringes.

The other man, Christian Houston, admitted to riding in a vehicle he knew was stolen, KCSO said.

At the time, Houston was listed as a missing person by the Washington Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center.

Skeens was booked into Kitsap County Jail for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of methamphetamine. Bail was set at $50,000.

Houston was booked into Kitsap County Juvenile Detention Center for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
