Suquamish Elementary celebrates Earth Day in costume

SUQUAMISH — Although the rain came pouring down, Suquamish Elementary School students rallied and showed off their handmade costumes anyway, by holding their fourth annual Earth Day parade inside the school April 19.

School librarian Jan Jackson has been organizing the parade, and for the first time included students from Chief Kitsap Academy to join in the parade.

Each class made their own costumes — some elaborate panda and tiger paper-mache heads, others face masks of different animals — and all settled in the gym to learn about sustainability and keeping the Earth clean.
