SUQUAMISH — A 22-year-old Suquamish man was pronounced dead at the scene of a Suquamish Way accident that resulted in a power outage early Sunday morning.

According to a report from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, David B. Dumford-Williams was driving a 1974 Ford Courier pickup when the vehicle collided with a power pole on Suquamish Way between Totten Road and Highway 305.

A preliminary investigation by the KCSO indicated that Dumford-Williams was traveling south when the vehicle left the roadway at a curve on Totten Road.

Sheriff’s deputies and crews from North Kitsap Fire & Rescue responded to the scene shortly before 4 a.m. Aug. 24. and found the vehicle on its top. Dumford-Williams was believed to be the sole motorist involved.

The accident resulted in a power outage for approximately half of Suquamish residents and closed Suquamish Way.

Crews from Puget Sound Energy were dispatched to the scene to secure power, which was restored several hours after the crash.

While the Sheriff’s Office report stated that “both alcohol and speed appear to have been factors in this collision,” the department’s traffic division is still investigating the accident.
